A Woman Wore A Hidden Camera To Show How Many Times In A Day She Gets Harassed.

At 3:17, a woman describes an assault on a subway. You really should hear what she says so you can learn how horrific this is for many women on a daily basis.

Wow I’ve been thinking of doing that hidden camera thing for forever but never got around to it. These ladies are so brave.

"And I think that most women who’ve been assaulted know this look, which is the "I’m getting off on you being uncomfortable"" hits me like a semitruck!! this is important

reblogging this because i have a message to add
i was once the victim of assault. i was wearing a short skirt, standing at a bar to order a drink and a guy put his hand up my skirt,
i didnt just turn around and pushed his hand away. i actually punched him in the face.
he was scared. cause i wasnt uncomfortable and i took control over the situation.
i was crying and shaking after he left. but i was in control. i was so in control he actuall apologized.

I remember I was our clubbing with a workmate and once we were done with the clubs we sat down on some grass and I layer down because is had some to drink and these men just come up, sort of just sussing us out like pieces of meat and one even laid on top of me, pinning me down and started feeling his way up my skirt!!
I was beyond uncomfortable and actually texted my workmate like ‘can you get this guy off me?” And it took both of us YELLING at him to get off for both the guys to fuck off. And we were in a public place yet no one did anything. Was it somehow ok because we were both drunk? The fuck, society!!

The most dangerous phrase in the language is, “we’ve always done it this way.”

"Come on, let’s mix it up!" The heart surgeon says.
"B-but we’ve always done it this way!" The other replies, "this is how you replace a heart valve."
"That’s the most dangerous phrase in the human language!" The first surgeon replies haughtily as he inputs a fruit loop into the patient’s heart. "This will be his valve. He will be a fruit loop in a world of Cheerios."

(taken from this post on the experiments of Harry Harlow)
This is serious business, because this is a large part of how sexism, racism, homophobia, rape culture, ethnocentrism, etc. continue to happen.

That bullshit heart surgery example doesn’t even make sense though, does that person think that we’re still doing heart surgery the exact same way we’ve always done heart surgery? As if medicine isn’t constantly changing and updating? Wow it’s almost like people are finding excuses to not have to think critically about the world!

You mean we don’t still take people’s brains out and rub them in salt to dispel the devil and cure headaches? I’m pretty sure that’s established medieval protocol, wouldn’t want to mix things up.
